Texas Ethics Commission
The Texas Ethics Commission is authorized by the Government Code, sec.571.091, 
to issue advisory opinions in regard to the following statutues: the Government 
Code, Chapter 302; the Government Code, Chapter 305; the Government Code, 
Chapter 572; the Election Code, Title 15; the Penal Code, Chapter 36; and the 
Penal Code, Chapter 39.

Advisory Opinion Request
AOR-436. The Texas Ethics Commission has been asked to consider whether a 
corporation would be making a prohibited political contribution if the 
corporation sells a product to the candidate for use in campaigning at rates 
lower than the corporation's normal wholesale rates. The requestor states that 
the "proposal and the negotiations were conducted as any other business 
transaction, both sides seeking an economic benefit."
