Appointments for March 9, 2007

Appointed to be a member of the Board of Pilot Commissioners for Galveston County for a term to expire February 1, 2011, Edward A. Janek of Galveston. Mr. Janek is being reappointed.

Appointed to be a member of the Texas School Safety Center Board for a term to expire February 1, 2008, Daniel Riley Griffith II of Pflugerville (replacing Charles Brawner of Katy whose term expired).

Appointed to be a member of the Texas School Safety Center Board for a term to expire February 1, 2008, Vivian R. King of Houston (replacing Gigi Edwards Bryant of Austin whose term expired).

Appointed to be a member of the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation for a term to expire January 31, 2013, Phil W. Worley of Bruni (replacing James R. Langabeer of Edinburg whose term expired).

Appointed to be a member of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for a term to expire October 31, 2011, Donna Lord Black of Fulshear. Ms. Black is replacing Stephanie Sokolosky of Wichita Falls whose term expired.

Appointments for March 12, 2007

Appointed to be Judge of the 433rd Judicial District Court, Comal County, pursuant to SB 1189, 79th Legislature, Regular Session, for a term until the next General Election and until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified, Dibrell "Dib" W. Waldrip of New Braunfels.

Appointed to be Public Counsel for the Office of Public Insurance Counsel for a term to expire February 1, 2009, Roderick A. Bordelon, Jr. of Austin. Mr. Bordelon is being reappointed.

Appointed to be a member of the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation for a term to expire February 1, 2013, Frank S. Denton of Conroe. Mr. Denton is being reappointed.

Appointed to be a member of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy for a term to expire January 31, 2013, Evelyn M. Martinez of San Antonio. Ms. Martinez is being reappointed.

Appointed to be a member of the Office of Rural Community Affairs for a term to expire February 1, 2013, Wallace G. Klussmann of Fredericksburg. Mr. Klussmann is being reappointed.

Appointed to be Adjutant General of Texas for a term to expire February 1, 2009, Lt. General Charles G. Rodriguez, Ph.D. of Austin. General Rodriguez is being reappointed.

Proclamation 41-3068

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME:

WHEREAS, the 80th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature, convened in January of 2007 in accordance with Article III, Section 5 of the Texas Constitution and Chapter 301 of the Texas Government Code; and

WHEREAS, during the session, the legislature approved Senate Joint Resolution No. 13 ("S.J.R. 13") by a vote of two-thirds of all the members of each House pursuant to Article XVII, Section 1 of the Texas Constitution; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of S.J.R. No. 13 and in accordance with the Texas Constitution, the Legislature has set the date of the election for voting on the proposed constitutional amendment to be May 12, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Section 3.003 of the Texas Election Code requires the election to be ordered by proclamation of the Governor;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICK PERRY, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF TEXAS, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Texas, do hereby order a special election to be held throughout the State of Texas on the SECOND SATURDAY IN MAY, the same being the TWELFTH day of MAY, 2007; and,

NOTICE THEREOF IS HEREBY GIVEN to the COUNTY JUDGE of each county who is directed to cause said election to be held in the county on such date for the purpose of adopting or rejecting the constitutional amendment proposed by S.J.R. No. 13, a joint resolution, as submitted by the 80th Legislature, Regular Session, of the State of Texas.

Pursuant to S.J.R. No. 13 and Section 274.001 of the Texas Election Code, the proposition for the joint resolution will appear as follows:

Proposition 1

"The constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to provide for a reduction of the limitation on the total amount of ad valorem taxes that may be imposed for public school purposes on the residence homesteads of the elderly or disabled to reflect any reduction in the rate of those taxes for the 2006 and 2007 tax years."

The Secretary of State shall take notice of this proclamation and shall mail a copy of this order immediately to every County Judge of this state and all appropriate writs will be issued and all proper proceedings will be followed to the end that said election may be held and its result proclaimed in accordance with law.
