The Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners adopts new §577.18 concerning Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs). The new section is adopted without changes to the proposed text as published in the March 9, 2001, issue of the Texas Register (26 TexReg 1969).

Adoption of this section will allow the Board to comply with Texas Government Code, §2161.003, which requires all state agencies to adopt the General Services Commission's HUB rules. The section encourages the participation of HUBs in state agency construction projects and purchases of goods and services. Adoption of the section commits the Board to the state's policy regarding HUBs.

No comments were received regarding adoption of section.

The section is adopted under the authority of §801.151 (a) of the Texas Occupations Code which give the Board authority to adopt rules necessary to administer the Veterinary Licensing Act.

This agency hereby certifies that the adoption has been reviewed by legal counsel and found to be a valid exercise of the agency's legal authority.
