The Texas Department of Public Safety adopts an amendment to §15.42, concerning the eligibility of non-United States residents, ineligible to obtain a social security number due to immigration status, to obtain a driver's license, without changes to the proposed text as published in the Texas Register (24 TexReg 253) and will not be republished.

The justification for this section will be to inform the public of the procedures required of individuals, ineligible for social security number issuance due to immigration status, to obtain a driver's license.

No comments were received regarding adoption of the amendment.

The amendment is adopted pursuant to Texas Transportation Code, §521.005 which provides the director of the Texas Department of Public Safety with the authority to adopt rules necessary to administer this chapter.

This agency hereby certifies that the adoption has been reviewed by legal counsel and found to be a valid exercise of the agency's legal authority.
