TEXAS ETHICS COMMISSION
The Texas Ethics Commission is authorized by Government Code, sec.571.091, to 
issue advisory opinions in regard to the following statutes: the Government 
Code, Chapter 302; the Government Code, Chapter 305; the Government Code, 
Chapter 572; the Election Code, Title 15; the Penal Code, Chapter 36; and the 
Penal Code, Chapter 39.

Advisory Opinion Requests
AOR-409. The Texas Ethics Commission has been asked to consider questions about 
state employees' use of state-owned cellular phones and state employees' use of 
electronic mail and Internet services.
AOR-410. The Texas Ethics Commission has been asked whether members of the 
National Research Laboratory Commission will be required to file personal 
financial disclosure statements in 1998. The Legislature appropriated no money 
to the National Research Laboratory Commission for the biennium that begins 
September 1, 1997. The commission will end all of its activities and all 
employees will be released by August 31, 1997.
AOR-411. The Texas Ethics Commission has been asked to consider whether a member 
of the legislature may continue to provide services to local public housing 
authorities.
