AOR Number 387 The Texas Ethics Commission has been asked about the information required to be included on a campaign finance report under "total principal amount of all outstanding loans as of the last day of the reporting period." The specific question is whether the total reported should included personal funds that the candidate has used for campaign or officeholder purposes and for which the candidate may reimburse himself from political contributions. AOR Number 388 The Texas Ethics Commission has been asked to consider whether sec.253.162 of the Election Code, which places limits on a judicial candidate's or officeholder's use of political contributions to repay loans to certain relatives, applies to loans made before the effective date of the Judicial Campaign Fairness Act.
