The Texas Ethics Commission has been asked to consider whether surplus funds from a race for Speaker of the House of Representatives may be used to make contributions to 501(c)(3) organizations, high school or collegiate scholarship funds, or organizations such as the Boy Scouts or Junior Achievement. The Texas Ethics Commission has been asked to consider whether members of a legislative committee may accept meals, lodging, and transportation (in vans) from public universities and community colleges in connection with a committee visit to the universities and colleges.
