May a member of the legislature serve on the board of directors of a nonprofit agency? 2. May the member of the legislature vote on a bill that appropriates funds to or otherwise affects the nonprofit agency? 3. May the legislator accept reimbursement of expenses for attending board meetings if the reimbursement is paid from non-state sources? 4. May the legislator accept a dinner provided at board meetings if the dinners are paid for from non-state sources? AOR-255. The Ethics Commission has been asked to consider whether a lawyer who was previously a regular employee of a state agency may independently contract with the agency to perform work as a hearings examiner.
