PROCLAMATION 41-2798

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME:

WHEREAS, Friday, April 13, 2001, is a holy day that holds great meaning for many people throughout Texas and the world; and

WHEREAS, many people of faith will hold religious services in observance of this day; and

WHEREAS, the legislature has by statue recognized the importance of this day by designating it as an optional state holiday; and

WHEREAS, I have allowed time off for the employees of the Office of the Governor to observe this holy day.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Perry, Governor of the State of Texas, by the power vested in me as the chief executive office of this state, do hereby recommend and encourage the administrative head of each state agency and department to use their discretion and allow personnel not critical to the agency's mission to have the afternoon of April 13, 2001, off.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereto signed my name and caused the Seal of the State of Texas to be impressed upon this proclamation, this the 12th day of April, 2001, in Austin, Texas.
