Summary
The restrictions in Election Code
section 253.153 do not apply to contributions made to a candidate to cover
expenses in connection with an unsuccessful 1998 race for a nonjudicial office,
even if the candidate currently holds one of the judicial offices listed in
Election Code section 253.151.

Summary
A reception to honor a state officer
is a "gift" for purposes of Government Code section 572.023(b)(7) and is reportable
on the state officer's personal financial statement unless an exception provided
by section 572.023(b)(7) applies.
